We’ve gone through a few name changes and advancements over the years, but All Powder Coat & Screen has remained a fixture in the metal finishing industry.
Our business dates back to 1974, when Dale Garner founded Garner Paint. Working his entire life in the paint industry, Dale gained valuable experience that he passed down to his son, Marc. Dale left the company in good hands with Marc when he retired in 1992.A turning point in the company occurred in 2002, when Marc sold the business to Bill and Billy Thrailkill, with whom Garner Paint had a long-lasting professional partnership. Marc continued to play a pivotal role in the company’s operations as he passed the torch to the new owners, maintaining the high-quality service his customers had become accustomed to. With the change in ownership, the company ushered in a new era for the business as it was rebranded as WBT Paint.
Another shift happened between 2006 and 2008, when WBT Paint made the strategic decision to transition primarily into a powder coating shop. This move was a response to the changing demands of the industry, as well as a means of further improving efficiency. In 2015, under the leadership of third-generation owner Lance Thrailkill, WBT Paint relocated to a state-of-the-art 30,000 square foot facility in Allen, Texas, where the company remains today. This move allowed for enhanced capabilities, streamlined processes, and greater efficiency in serving our expanding customer base.
Additionally, the additional space our current facility offers has enabled us to join forces with our sibling company, All Metals Fabricating. This strategic partnership has brought our services under one roof to effectively lower lead times for our customers on projects that need both machining and finishing services. As a rebranding initiative in 2021, we changed our name to All Powder Coat & Screen to accurately reflect our core offerings, as we have extended beyond exclusively industrial powder coating services and expanded into silk screening and pad printing.
Through the rich history of our company, which spans over multiple generations, we have gone through several names and phases. What remains constant, however, is our commitment to producing excellent outcomes for our customers. Two to three years ago, AMF was contacted by an Australian company who found them as the result of a Google search. The company was looking for a partner that could help them establish their business in the U.S. for an exciting new product – ZapStand – the cardiac responder stand referred to previously in this article. The ZapStand is a ‘smart’ Automated External Defibrillator (AED) delivery system for use in municipal areas such as parks. The system is monitored 24 hours a day and provides real time, step-by-step assistance in a cardiac emergency. In addition, when the button is pressed to access the AED, it automatically turns on the GPS inside the cardiac responder directing the ambulance to the exact location of the medical emergency.
Lance shares that the development phase of the project took a good year or so to complete. AMF produces the complete ZapStand unit including fabrication and powder coating of the aluminum enclosure and internal steel racks. The initial ten stands were installed in Frisco, TX, between November 2020 and January 2021. With the first group of ZapStands deployed and active, the plan is to install 2,500 ZapStands across the US over the next seven years. “It’s rewarding to be part of something that is saving lives,” says Lance. In fact, according to www.zapstand.com at the time of writing this article, ZapStand was responsible for saving 72 lives.
